Kristina Hagman   Printmaker | Painter

Mount Rainier, its scale in comparison to anything man-made makes me pause to contemplate our relationship to the natural world in a new and awesome way. The mountain snuck up on me as I followed my daily routine, tantalizing me from the corner of my eye until I had to make it the focus of my art. I have since traveled all over the state of Washington painting Mount Rainier from every imaginable setting. The series I am currently working on is entitled 36 Views of Mount Rainier and it is an homage to the famous Japanese wood block artist Hokusai and his 36 Views of Mount Fuji. It is my aim to install this series in one location, where they can be viewed simultaneously. This collection of prints will also be available as a boxed suite.
